What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear, custom aligners that straighten your teeth without traditional braces.

Based on a customized treatment plan, a series of custom aligners will be created to fit your teeth during each stage of your treatment.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign's clear plastic aligners are designed to move your teeth by tiny increments during your treatment. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and then replaced with the next one in the series.

This process will continue until your teeth are in their desired positions. The length of your Invisalign treatment will be determined by your dentist based on your unique needs.

How long does Invisalign take?

Only your dentist can determine the duration of your individual Invisalign treatment. That's because factors like the misalignment of your teeth and jaw, the shape of your bite, and the amount of movement required to correct the issues will all affect the process.

What are Invisalign aligners made of?

Invisalign aligners are made with USP Class VI medical-grade, high molecular weight, polyurethane resins, and are BPA free.

How often do I have to visit the dentist?

Invisalign aligners do not require any adjustments or tightening, so you will only need to visit the dentist for brief appointments every four to six weeks during your treatment.

At these appointments, your dentist will review your progress and general oral health and answer any questions you may have.

What are the primary features of Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are:

  • Discreet and barely noticeable
  • Smooth and comfortable
  • Removable for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing

How much does Invisalign cost?

The cost of Invisalign treatment depends on your individual case. For example, the more severe your misalignment issues, the more aligners you will need and the more treatment will cost. Generally, the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to that of traditional metal braces.

How will Invisalign fit my lifestyle?

Many patients find that Invisalign fits very comfortably into their daily lives.

Because you can remove the aligners for eating, drinking, brush and flossing, there are no dietary or lifestyle restrictions.

Also, because of the low profile appearance, many people won't even notice you're wearing Invisalign aligners.

Are there any food or drink restrictions?

No! Because you can take Invisalign aligners out to eat and drink, you can continue to enjoy all the foods and drinks you love!

How many sets of aligners will I need?

Your dentist can give you an accurate estimate of how many aligners you need and how long your treatment will take based on your specific case.

Can adults use Invisalign?

Yes! Anyone who has healthy teeth and gums is a potential candidate for Invisalign.

Can teenagers use Invisalign?

Yes! Teens can certainly be candidates for Invisalign. In fact, Invisalign has a line of aligners tailored to the needs of teenagers.

How often do I have to change my aligners?

Generally, patients switch to their next set of aligners about every two weeks. Your dentist can tell you exactly how often you should switch out your aligners based on your individual treatment plan.

How do I clean my aligners?

  • Rinse your aligners each time you remove them.
  • Soak your aligners using denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, and/or the official Invisalign cleaning crystals.
  • Brush and floss your teeth before you put your aligners back in.
  • Gently brush your aligners with a clear, anti-bacterial soft soap, and then rinse them off.

Can I play sports with Invisalign?

You can remove your clear aligners while you play sports so you don't have to worry about them getting damaged.

You'll also want to invest in a sports mouth guard to protect your teeth during sports.

Can I play my musical instrument with Invisalign?

Yes! You can remove your aligners to play your instrument, and put them back in when you're done.

How do I store my aligners?

Invisalign aligners will come with a storage case, and this is where you should keep them whenever you remove them to keep them safe.
